JOAQUÍN MAUAD (Montevideo, 1990)
Screenwriter, director and producer.
Graduated from the audiovisual filmmaking career at the Escuela de Cine del Uruguay. He completed his studies with a fiction workshop at the Escuela de Cine y TV de San Antonio de los Baños -EICTV- in Cuba.
He has been selected in Puentes Eave (2019), in the Organizzazione Internazionale Italo Americana (2022) and in Buenos Aires Talents (2023) -a forum of cinematographic discussions in collaboration with Berlinale Talents, Goethe-Institut Buenos Aires and BAFICI.
He directed the film Años Luz (2021) and the short films Obnubilante (2015), La casa de Nico (2014), Mi amigo verde (2013) and Malos hábitos (2012). He was also co-director of the film El Sereno (2017). His films were selected in international festivals such as: Malaga, Chicago, San Diego, Guadalajara, Havana, Santiago de Chile, Gramado and Punta del Este.
He is co-founder of the production house Anfibia Cine created in 2017 -where he is developing his next projects- and works as a workshop leader specialized in actor training and direction with his workshop project Horas Cámara. He has also conducted workshops on screenwriting and audiovisual editing.
